Cold Weather Creeping in. Keep those RVs ready!

Saint George, Utah is known for its warm and sunny weather, but the past few weeks have been unusually cold, with temperatures dropping well below freezing. This unexpected weather can be challenging, especially for those who live in RVs and other recreational vehicles. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips for keeping your RV in top shape during the cold weather.
  1. Keep Your Water Lines from Freezing: One of the most important things to do during cold weather is to prevent your water lines from freezing. To do this, you can wrap your pipes with insulation or heat tape. You can also open your cabinets to allow warm air to circulate around your pipes, or use a small space heater to keep the temperature in your RV above freezing. Also, use a heated hose to keep incoming water warm to prevent freexing.
  2. Keep Your Propane Tank Full: During cold weather, your RV's furnace will be working overtime to keep your unit warm. This means you'll be using more propane than usual. Make sure your propane tank is full, and consider purchasing a second tank so you don't run out of propane in the middle of the night.
  3. Seal Your RV's Windows and Doors: Cold air can seep through even the smallest cracks around your RV's windows and doors, causing your furnace to work harder than necessary. To prevent this, use weatherstripping or foam insulation to seal any gaps around your windows and doors.
  4. Use Skirting Around Your RV: Skirting is an insulated barrier that goes around the base of your RV, providing an extra layer of protection against the cold. This will help to keep the temperature inside your RV more consistent and prevent cold air from entering through the bottom of your unit.
  5. Be Careful with Space Heaters: While space heaters can be a great way to keep your RV warm, they can also be a fire hazard if not used properly. Make sure to keep your space heater away from any flammable materials, and turn it off when you leave your RV or go to sleep.
In conclusion, the unusually cold weather in Saint George can be challenging for those living in RVs, but with a few simple tips, you can keep your unit in top shape and stay warm and comfortable throughout the winter months. Stay warm and happy camping!

Here in the Zion Area the temperature can get quite extreme during the summer months. That doesn't keep travelers away from Zion National Park. In the late of August and early September the temperatures are exceeding 100 degrees.  Duck Creek offers a great base camp for those of us who like to beat the heat while still seeing the sites we want to see. Only an hour away from Zion and Bryce, Duck Creek offers a perfect mountain setting for those looking to be close to the National Parks we are famous for. Not only this, Duck creek is unique features of its own to make it a destination worth traveling to. The main attractions are hiking, off-roading, great trout fishing in streams, and ponds. Don't have your own off road vehicle? No problem. Just a few minutes away from our campground you are able to rent and variety of off road vehicles to suit your needs. For fishing, we aren't too far from Panguitch Lake with offers first class trout fishing with boat rentals as well as great on-shore fishing.  Want to get out and use your legs instead? Brian head is less than an hour away where you will find a ski resort that caters to mountain bikers during the summer. On top of all of this you have world class views overlooking Zion and Cedar breaks near the campground as well. There is so much to do and little time to do it as summer and fall months will be closing soon so we encourage you to book now before the snow shuts us down for the winter season!

The National Park reported 4 million at Zion, Bryce Canyon had 2.5 million, while Capitol Reef had 1.15 million. Utah is growing at an extremely fast pace, If possible, plan your visit during the middle of the week to avoid the crowds. Each of these parks has a variety of trails throughout them at different levels of difficulty. These include breathtaking views that can only be seen within these parks and will be sure to give you a memorable experience. Both Zion and Bryce Canyon are in the top 10 National parks to visit in the United States, for good reason. Both offer iconic trails and terrain that challenge even the most adept traveler.

Other National Parks, Monuments, and Forests

Utah is mostly public land, leaving a lot of its untouched beauty. Besides the 3 big national parks, there are plenty of smaller parks and monuments that are worth visiting. Per the National Park Service Arches has the highest visitors at about 1.5 million per year. These parks offer a great alternative to the parks when the parks are busy, or you want to travel from the beaten path.

State Parks

South-Western Utah has 5 state parks neighboring the Zion National park area. There are 3 areas of swimming between Gunlock, Quail Creek, and Sand Hollow that is west of Zion. Sand Hollow is the most popular, featuring pink sand dunes near the reservoir for fishing in the morning and off-roading after noon. Quail is 10 minutes from Sand Hollow and offers great bass and trout fishing all year round. All of these lakes are a perfect place to bring your family and  camping toys. Snow Canyon offers another area for walking trails at lower level of difficulty and the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, south-east to Zion, is known for off-road vehicle trails. Downtown Saint George is a perfect place to stay, it is historic, quaint, clean, and full of small and friendly businesses that will give you a different taste of the culture in this beautiful growing town. Beating the Crowds this Labor Day

PictureSouthern Zion
Southern Utah is becoming an exceedingly popular destination for casual travelers and enthusiasts alike. We have seen massive growth in the recreational areas near us and we want to share some tips for you to beat the crowds this Labor Day or any other crowded weekend. Zion National Park and Springdale become excessively busy on holiday weekends. You can expect large crowds showing up early, making lines and parking a headache. If you are looking to skip the lines and cool down in the process, Southern Zion is a great alternative. Turning left from SR-9 in Virgin onto Kolob Terrace Rd. will put you on a path towards Kolob Reservoir. If you take this road to the reservoir, you climb a couple thousand feet in elevation bringing you to much cooler temperatures, which can be a huge relief during the summer. Along this route you will find stunning sites, significantly less traffic, hiking trails, and cooler weather making it a perfect alternative to the main part of the park.
