Southern Utah is becoming an exceedingly popular destination for casual travelers and enthusiasts alike. We have seen massive growth in the recreational areas near us and we want to share some tips for you to beat the crowds this Labor Day or any other crowded weekend. Zion National Park and Springdale become excessively busy on holiday weekends. You can expect large crowds showing up early, making lines and parking a headache. If you are looking to skip the lines and cool down in the process, Southern Zion is a great alternative. Turning left from SR-9 in Virgin onto Kolob Terrace Rd. will put you on a path towards Kolob Reservoir. If you take this road to the reservoir, you climb a couple thousand feet in elevation bringing you to much cooler temperatures, which can be a huge relief during the summer. Along this route you will find stunning sites, significantly less traffic, hiking trails, and cooler weather making it a perfect alternative to the main part of the park.
